Plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery

The physical well-being surgery

Plastic surgery is a multidisplinary specialty dealing with aspects such as aging, scars, resection of tumors and malformations. This displine also includes specialties such as cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery, both of which are quite different.

Reconstructive surgery aims to repair tissue and skin in areas that have changed due to disease or trauma. Breast reconstruction is the most common example of reconstructive surgery.

Cosmetic surgery, for its part, aims to eliminate physical "defects" of the body and face, perceived by patients, women and men, having an influence on their physical appreciation and self-esteem. Among the most frequent interventions, we find: breast augmentation or reduction (change in the size and shape of the breasts), rhinoplasty (nose surgery), liposuction (removal of excess fat), otoplasty (correction of the ears commonly called "protruding ears") or even lipofilling (reinjection of its own fat).
